The big Swing beginner course 2023 in the Zwischenbau! Swing is a style of music and a dance family that originated from jazz music in the 1920s. This course imparts the fundamentals of Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Solo Jazz. Lindy Hop is a partner dance typically performed to medium-paced Swing music. It originated in Harlem, New York, and is known for its joyful and carefree character. Lindy Hop emphasizes playful interaction with your dance partner and the music, creating a lot of fun and enjoyment in the dance. Charleston and Solo Jazz are dance elements that have been integrated into Lindy Hop.
To enhance the learning experience, we rotate dance partners every few minutes. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, and ideally shoes with some slip to reduce strain on your knees. If you tend to sweat quickly and heavily, we recommend bringing an extra T-shirt. To ensure a punctual start, we kindly request that you arrive at least 10 minutes before the course begins. In partner dancing, dancers typically stand close to each other, with light touches occurring on the hands, arms, and the upper back and shoulder area.
The course is a cooperation with University sports at the University of Rostock. 12x course dates, always on Thursday from 19.10.2023 – 25.01.2024. Please register at Hochschulsport.uni-rostock. No partner is required. You can also just show up at the Zwischenbau and talk to the teachers. Drop-In possible until 26.10.23.
